EQ Is Your Biggest Business Advantage When AI Does the Heavy Lifting

There’s a quote I came back to recently, one that’s been sitting at the bottom of an old email for years . . . “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

I’ve been thinking about that a lot as AI reshapes the way businesses across the country operate. We now have tools at our fingertips that let us move faster than ever, in our marketing, our sales, our operations, our content. And I genuinely love that. But speed is only half the picture.

The IQ vs. EQ Question in Business

Here’s what I keep coming back to: as AI handles more of the IQ work, the data, the systems, the automation, emotional intelligence becomes the real competitive edge.

EQ is the part that AI can’t replicate. It’s the ability to read a room, to know when an idea is worth pursuing and when it belongs on the wish list. It’s the gut check that no algorithm can give you. And for business owners across the US who are in the thick of building something, that matters enormously.

What EQ Actually Looks Like in Business

I’ve been working with my co-founder Chantal for over 15 years. What we’ve built together isn’t just a business, it’s a foundation of trust that lets us do two things well: use the tools and build the tools, but also show up for the emotional side of the work.

That means being able to ask each other: is this idea off the wall or is it actually good? Should we run with it now or put it on the list? Those conversations, honest, grounded, human, are what keep a business moving in the right direction.

So many entrepreneurs hit walls not because they lack strategy or tools, but because they don’t have someone to hash things out with. That’s one of many EQ gaps. And it’s one that no automation can fill.

IQ + EQ: The Combination That Scales

The businesses that are going to thrive as AI matures aren’t the ones that move the fastest. They’re the ones that combine the speed of AI with the depth of human connection with their teams, their clients, and themselves.

At BAMPT, that’s what we build toward. AI workflows that remove the repetitive work so you have more capacity for the human work. The curiosity. The creativity. The relationships.

We’re still in the early stages of figuring out how IQ and EQ grow together in this new landscape. But the businesses asking that question right now are the ones that will lead.

How Are You Thinking About This?

I’d love to hear from business owners and founders across the US: how are you navigating AI in your work while keeping the human side of your business strong? How are you making sure your team’s EQ stays in check as the tools get smarter?
